VASIS Dashboard - Young Adult Survey
Description
The VASIS Youth and Adolescent System (YAS) Dashboard, developed by the OMNI Institute, provides a focused view of the systems and experiences shaping the health and development of young people across Virginia. This interactive tool includes data on youth behavioral health, school engagement, justice involvement, child welfare, and access to supportive services. Users can examine trends and disparities across regions, age groups, and demographic categories to better understand the needs and challenges facing Virginia’s youth.
How the Community can use the Data
Communities can use the VASIS YAS Dashboard to better understand the needs of children and adolescents and to support efforts that promote their well-being. Schools, youth-serving organizations, local agencies, and advocacy groups can identify trends in behavioral health, educational engagement, and system involvement to guide program development and policy decisions. The dashboard helps target resources to areas with the greatest need and fosters collaboration among education, health, justice, and child welfare systems.
Data Limitations
Youth data often comes from multiple sources with differing reporting standards, which may affect consistency and completeness. Certain indicators may be unavailable at a local level or may be limited due to privacy protections. Additionally, system-level data may not capture informal supports or the full spectrum of youth experiences, particularly for marginalized or underserved populations.
